WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A State Representative in Palm Beach County believes the new law aimed to tackle the ongoing opioid crisis in Florida is a step in the right direction.
“Opioid Abatement – what that truly means is to end the opioid crisis,” said State Rep. Jervonte Edmonds, who represents District 88. Abatement means to end, often in legal use.
Part of the Opioid Abatement bill he helped sponsor, which was signed into law and went into effect July 1, is meant to protect college students. According to State Rep. Edmonds, it requires public state universities and colleges to have the opioid-reversal drug Narcan within residence halls to protect students.
