FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Broward County School Board recently discussed adopting a 4-day high school week following success of the program at one of its magnet schools.
“I’m intrigued by the innovative ways to increase academic time, enhance community service and improve learning again via a four day school week,” Broward County School Board member Torey Alston told Florida’s Voice.
The program has been implemented at Pompano Beach High School since 1997, an A-rated magnet public high school. It is the only school in the district to offer a 4-day week, according to Alston.
Pompano Beach is considered to be the best public high school in Broward County. The school is ranked No. 25 in Florida and No. 286 nationally, according to U.S News & World Report.
