DeSantis signs controversial ethics boards limiting bill

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a controversial bill on Friday that will impose restrictions on ethics boards.

Under the new law, SB 7041, state and local ethics commissions must now follow new rules in order to investigate complaints made against public officials. The law establishes rules for the makeup of the Commission of Ethics, alters the conditions in which a complaint can be made, as well as imposes a time limit on investigations.
