HIALEAH, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis said Florida made the right move by prohibiting students from using cellphones in the classroom at a press conference in Hialeah Monday.
He made the comments in reference to Florida’s education policies and spending since 2020, announcing major teacher pay raises for 2024-2025 with a total of $1.25 billion, nearly a quarter billion increase from the prior year.
“Students should not have cellphones in the classroom. They can check them at the front of the class,” DeSantis said. “Actually, some schools say no cell phones period.”
