Florida's bold steps to safeguard kids and empower parents

In 2021, we passed a bill titled “Fairness in Women’s Sports.”  It simply stated that boys cannot compete in girls’ sports. This commonsense approach recognized that besides obvious biological differences below the belt, in almost every instance, boys are bigger, stronger or have the capacity to be stronger, and have greater capacity for physical endurance.  That’s the reason most schools already had different leagues for boys and girls.

Does anyone really think a 17-year-old boy who is 6’6” and weighs 200 pounds should compete with girls who may be working very hard to earn a sports scholarship to one of our colleges or universities? Our legislation protects the dreams and aspirations of women in the next generation and maintained their safety in locker rooms.

In 2022, Florida passed the Parental Rights in Education bill.  The purpose was straightforward: “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation may not occur in kindergarten through third grade.”  During the COVID meltdown, parents discovered that some teachers were talking to 6-year-olds about sexual experiences and identity.  That’s not education; it’s indoctrination, and we stopped it, not just as a commonsense measure but also for their safety.
