FORT PIERCE, Fla. — Saturday’s gun violence was not on the agenda at Monday night’s Fort Pierce city commission meeting, but when commissioners had the opportunity to speak, it was literally all they talked about.
“Let’s pray for that neighborhood,” Commissioner Curtis Johnson, Jr. said. “Because a lot of people saw and heard and felt what happened.”
“It just hurts,” Commissioner Jeremiah Johnson said. “It does hurt. We are one family as a city.”
“I’m tired of making this speech,” Commissioner Arnold Gaines said. “I’m tired of making condolences to families in Fort Pierce.”
