POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A troubled 34-year-old fugitive accused of crimes by both state and local law enforcement was back behind bars on Sunday at the North Broward Bureau in Pompano Beach, records show.

Broward County court and inmate records show Arys Martinez was facing 12 charges, and five were for escaping. The rest are for a pending capital life case and a pending felony case.

Court records show before the cases she wed Jacob Howard on Valentine’s Day 2022. The two have a domestic violence record and lost their parental rights to their baby girl Amelia in Broward court.

Police officers accused Martinez of kidnapping the baby on Feb. 20 after a grandmother dropped her off and Howard picked her up from the Little Hands in Learning, a daycare center in Davie.
