BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — About 25 Holocaust survivors and families of Holocaust survivors met with the students on Monday to help them learn about the Holocaust.
Instead of learning through textbooks and movies, more than 200 students left the classroom to get firsthand accounts of one of the darkest moments in history.
Miki Pear was one of the survivors. She told a table of students about the time she escaped from Poland and was given away by her mother.
"I escaped with my family as the bombs were falling and Warsaw was burning my mom gave me away in hopes of saving my life," said Pear.
