WEST PALM BEACH — In her role as a financial officer, Carolyn Faye Hanson embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from at least three Palm Beach County companies, authorities said in charging her with multiple counts of fraud.
She stole nearly $1 million from one employer in Boca Raton over a period of six years using the names of former company employees to complete fraudulent payroll payments into her personal bank accounts, according to city police reports. She spent the money on personal expenses, including a home and plastic surgery, documents show.
On Nov. 27, Hanson pleaded guilty in two cases to charges that included money laundering, grand theft and fraudulent use of identification. Circuit Judge Cymonie Rowe sentenced Hanson to concurrent 18-month prison terms, to be followed by 20 years of probation.
