Man wanted for gravesite thefts in Okeechobee, remains at large after first arrest

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. (CBS12) — Investigators are looking for a suspect wanted for multiple gravesite thefts in Okeechobee.

The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) said over the past two months, deputies received several calls reporting items stolen from gravesites at Evergreen Cemetery on NE 39th Boulevard.

Following an investigation, deputies found and arrested 38-year-old Mark Smith. OCSO said multiple items reported stolen from the cemetery were recovered from Smith's residence. All items collected were turned into evidence.
