Mystery in Boca Raton: memorial to victims in 1996 car wreck vanishes

BOCA RATON, Fla. — A memorial honoring five victims of a 1996 car crash that had stood at the crash site in Boca Raton for more than 27 years vanished Wednesday.

“Each of the monuments had a picture, a photograph of the child that passed,” said Susan Walker.

Walker’s daughter, Margaux Schehr, was killed in the crash along Palmetto Park Drive just west of the Florida Turnpike.

She was only 13 years old.
