WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Last week, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Cutter Joseph Napier and its crew repatriated 35 migrants one day then 50 the following day in separate interdictions in the Mona Passage.
Roughly 33 nautical miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the crew encountered the first vessel carrying 29 people claiming to be Dominican Republic nationals and six others who claimed to be Haitian nationals. A 30-foot makeshift boat was caught the next day, holding 48 Dominican Republic nationals and two claiming to be Haitian nationals.
These two recent encounters brings the total interdicted peoples recorded from October 1 to the end of November to 475 migrants.
