ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Public Schools has decided Florida's law restricting use of preferred pronouns still permits them to honor requests from students' parents.

In a letter from the school board to the Florida Department of Education, officials state that their interpretation of the law permits a parent to request the school district employees use pronouns that do not match the child's biological sex at birth. Officials say the Parents' Bill of Rights allows for this.
