WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A new type of fentanyl – one that is 50 times more potent and only ever seen in one other part of the country – has arrived in Palm Beach County, the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) is warning.
The new drug has law enforcement officials so worried they began a Wednesday afternoon news conference by describing it as a “public safety threat.”
A member of the police department’s Organized Crime Unit Lt. Joe Herb explained that drug users will not know what they are getting when they purchase drugs off the street.
