WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Another scam is going on around Palm Beach County, this one claiming to be from the Social Security Administration. Victims receive letters, emails, even text messages saying their Social Security Number will be suspended due to fraudulent activities, and in detail, lists exactly what those activities are.

West Palm Beach resident Veronica Masson said the letter she received came attached to an email, and at the very top in bold it reads, “Social Security Administration.” Underneath it reads, “SUBJECT: Suspension of SSN due to Criminal Activities.”

“It’s really, really sad because you know first of all looks very official,” Masson said. “The seal of the Social Security, you have a number, you have a phone number.”
