FRANKFORT, Ky. (WSAZ) - In November, Kentucky voters will vote on the proposed school choice constitutional amendment placed on the general election ballot.
If ratified by voters, the proposal would change the constitution to permit the general assembly to allow public tax dollars to “provide financial support for the education of students outside the system of common schools.”
The bill comes after two Kentucky Supreme Court decisions ruled that public tax dollars should only be spent on the state’s “common” schools.
A judge interpreted “common” as a public school, according to the ruling.
