DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — As the school year ends, it may be a sad day to say goodbye to teachers and friends. But many kids will be happy to see the end of testing.
Because the summer is practically the only break they have from them.
Despite a promise from Governor Ron DeSantis that there would be less standardized testing, people I spoke to say there is more and more. It’s causing concern among parents, teachers and kids, that our schools are trading too much teaching for testing.
“He gets stressed out. He gets anxiety when he knows there’s a test coming up,” says Dayna DiDomenico of Delray Beach. She is telling me about the tough time her son Raphael is facing at school. “He was making himself cry to the point where he was throwing up in the mornings. And that perpetuated for weeks.”
