WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Palm Beach County parents whose children have dyslexia have spoken out on whether the school district has been able to provide their kids with the help they need. Through heartbreaking stories, the parents explained how they felt frustrated and overwhelmed.
One parent, Valerie Harris, accused her daughter’s school of only caring about its students’ test scores. She said her daughter loved being in an academic environment but did not feel like the school was helping her at all.
Another mother, Stephanie Salomoni, did not point fingers at teachers, saying she understood how hard their jobs are. However, she alleged the School District of Palm Beach County did not have resources to identify children with learning disabilities.
