WELLINGTON, Fla. — The village of Wellington is offering two types of grants assisting low- to moderate-income homeowners who live in the area.

“This allows residents who wish to stay in Wellington to remain in their existing homes,” said Jim Barnes, village of Wellington manager.

The Community Development Block Grant and the State Housing Initiatives Partnership each provides up to $50,000 in assistance to those who qualify.

“We have homeowners that have been here for a while, and they need to have their homes updated in order to meet Florida building codes. Or in some cases, (there are) life-safety type of improvements that need (to be) made to the home, and these grants allow these people who are qualified to be able to get some relief as fast as the cost,” Barnes said.
