While a man pumped gas at a Chevron station in West Palm Beach last week, a woman unwelcomingly jumped into his BMW, requesting a ride to Miami and was turned down. Cursing and flicking him off, she left but then returned when the man went inside to pay, letting herself into the backseat and sparking a cigarette, records said.
From inside the gas station, the BMW owner said it appeared she was smoking but quickly exited the car. Fortunately, when deputies responded to the alleged burglary then apprehended the woman, 27-year-old Antonina Pevzer, they also searched the victim's car.
This is when Palm Beach Sheriff's Office (PBSO) deputies found what could have led to a disastrous event: the cigarette the woman was seen smoking was "actively igniting" a box of tissues.
