WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Over half of reported instances of human trafficking in Florida since 2019 involved Meta platforms, according to a recent survey by the Florida attorney general.
Attorney General Ashley Moody shared the results Monday of the statewide survey, which went out to 80 law enforcement agencies across the state including all 67 sheriffs' offices, and revealed more than half of reported cases of social media use in human trafficking used Meta platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.
Now, Moody is calling for the CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, to come to Florida and testify about the results before the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking. She's requesting a response from a letter she sent by September 5.
